Genesis - Introduction
Synopsis:
Genesis is a book of beginnings and history. The book is scene in two sections: chapters 1-11 and 12-50. Genesis 1-11 covers four major events: 1) Creation 2) Fall 3) Flood and 4) Confusion of Languages. This section is the most scrutinized section in all of the Bible because the debate over origins and naturalism. Genesis 12-50 focusses on four patriachs of the Israelite people: 1) Abraham 2) Isaac 3) Jacob and 4) Joseph. The change in course at this point in history is that God chose to work through a specific line of people to bring out His plan of redemption for humanity.

Authorship: Moses
Genesis doesn't name its author directly, but was always considered to be penned by Moses following the Exodus roughly 1445 BC. (see Exod 17:14; Deut 31:24; 1 Kgs 2:3; Ezra 6:18; Neh 13:1; Dan 9:11-13; Mal 4:4; Mark 12:26; Luke 16:29; John 1:17; 5:44-47; 7:19, 23; Acts 26:22; Rom 10:5; 2 Cor 3:15, etc.)
